One-two-three-four

Recently, I watched a movie about swimming on Netflix, Nyad, about the swimmer Diana Nyad. During the thousands of strokes she needs to swim the long distance she counts one-two-three-four. How many times has that resonated in her head? I can’t even imagine.

I can hardly focus on counting lanes, but maybe this I can do. So I tested it in the pool, and it worked. One, right arm goes in; two, left arm in; three, turn to the right arm again, extend the hand; four, kick the leg, and in goes the left arm. And start again. And again. And again. Somehow, it helped me to swim and not think about anything else.
